The University of Nebraska, a major center for research and teaching founded in 1869, is situated in the southeastern portion of the state in the capital city of Lincoln. It is serviced by the Lincoln Airport and is some 60 miles from Eppley Airfield in Omaha (an hour and a quarter's drive on the I-80). The Nebraska Summer Writers' Conference 2008 will be held at the University of Nebraska - Lincoln, which offers a new housing experience at the Courtyards in apartment-style suites for conference-goers in an attractive university campus setting, within easy walking distance of both the workshop classrooms and near the center of Lincoln and all the attractions it has to offer.

Courtyards provides two or four single bedroom suites with a full bathroom, living room, and kitchen, all in an apartment-style residence hall. Bedrooms come with a bed, desk, dresser, full-length mirror, and cable TV hookups and Internet jacks. Living rooms come with a couch, end table TV stand and cable TV hookup (TV not provided). Kitchens come equipped with microwave, refrigerator, oven, and electric stovetop. If you plan on cooking, please note that basic dishware, cookware and utensils are not provided. Each suite has its own phone line.

Amenities near the Courtyards include basketball and tennis courts, recreation field and a nearby convenience store with groceries, snacks, and coffee; and laundry facilities on each floor. The rooms are fully air-conditioned and very affordable. A single room can be obtained for $40.00 per night with meal plan, and $25.00 per night without. Rooms include sheets, pillow, pillowcase, blanket, and daily towel exchange. Hotel-like housekeeping service is not provided.
